HERE IS AN EXPLANATION OF MY PAINTING
My concept and idea for this painting is based on the fact that Nice is such a cosmopolitan city with people from every country. J'adore Nice. So the setting of the painting is in Nice where many women from different countries conduct their business affairs and use this Mediterranean hub as a stop-over base. They have a private club just for women in a château in the hills just outside the city centre. They applied for membership through Linkedin, the premier business platform! In this club they have dinners, entertain business contacts and relax; networking all the time.
In the painting they are between a dinner and a night out in Nice. They are changing their clothes and relaxing in their own company. Some are chatting, another writes notes from the meeting, another reads the local newspaper, Nice Matin. The Matriarch and principle member of the club sits centre right pondering and watching over proceedings as the others make themselves ready. On her right at centre left, her second in command sits confidently in her own nakedness not rushing to get ready. Their club; their chateau, is lavishly decorated with expensive paintings from Picasso, Matisse and Rubens on the walls. Two beautiful chandeliers hang down while beautiful chairs and a chaise longue surround the floor. They are safe, confident and relaxed. This is their space.
Each of the women who has chosen to be painted into this scene had an input into the pose and what she is wearing They are now in this painting for all time. This is a chance in a lifetime, perhaps, to be in a masterpiece for I feel that my painting, given time, will be considered a modern masterpiece: a unique commentary on one aspect of modern living in 2015/2016.
To be completed in September 2016. Influenced by 'The Last Supper', my asking price for this work of art is to be negotialed.
My second painting in the 'Women of Nice', Burlesque Club" is already in the developmental stage.
